Greywind set the bar HIGH with, “Railway to Heaven” based on a song involving stairs.
Inani entered CONCORDANT EXPRESS. I saw this one coming, since I have been slipping into his Twitch stream. The Winner.
Ofc… kinda like we were railroaded into the theme… <.< >.>
Congratulations Inani!
Then the legend Sailor Yuggoth entered “Underground Railway Station” The scale of this, the detail and focus in every space! This is the “map that humbles me”! I circled my token. I’m not sure I have enough ram to build at this scale.
Then Luminous entered “Abandoned Devils Mine” Lessons in Lush Landscaping! No joke. Permanently changed how I am looking at the Dungeon Alchemist plants at different scales.
Then Lome enters with “Mountain Rail” This map looks so good, almost like satellite images.
Then Lord Rev enters “City Connections” , a splendid forced perspective, capturing the railway as a connected regional system.
Then me…
Then HighlandL4ss with her legacy map “Hydra Mine Entrance” Once more humbling with the >> Lessons in weathering and decay landscaping and structures!
And the Caboose with Random Ladybird’s entry “Childhood Railway in the Garden” breaking the mold with a completely out of the box (no joke there is a box) wooden toy play set she built in Blender. (me: still intimidated to take on Blender … Ladybird helps me get braver!!) Look at her GO!
Yeah… I knew as soon as the next theme vote came in (two weeks ago) I already saw most of what Inani’s train was like… got a tour from the designer himself, and lovely expert DM co-host Katatonic during their stream on Twitch.
Yep, finding my way around…
Discord and Twitch are very different platforms than what I have been “working” on, so I’m all tourist with the walkthroughs and tips falling out of my notebook, half guessing about where things might be… AND decorum… just making it up as I go …
Seems to be working.
Every two weeks I get the opportunity to look at this line up and talk myself out of Trying…. With all the negative self talk and comparisons.
I don’t.
I broke those self-defeating habits at the turn of the Century.
AND Gaming is what helped me break those habits. Accepting my newb-ness, and figuring out where to go to skill up, chat groups, forums, fan wikis, etc.
It shifted what I saw as my limitations. The players in those high ranks… Usually have been there longer, grinded harder, had a clearer idea of the build and how to use the entire skill tree.
I see it here in this game too. Might be why I feel at home with this community.
I like to be among people focused on Improving, gaining skills, and moving toward their goals/dreams. This is the company I prefer >>> life long learner and all.
