Okay, we will go slowly. And since it’s not a text book, no scissors, tape or glue sticks… (old school mock up tools)    I will Copy and Paste, cuz tech.

How to Learn:  Clear out the clutter so that you can focus.

Look at that…!  Isn’t that better? Nothing distracting now.

Link still checks.

The current page has a Mammoth.  Yep, I was chatting about it in Mac’s stream… getting some strange hair result trying to repaint my tropical Mammoths.

Next day (poof) 3 Mammoths in the workshop.  It’s like magic!!

This one in particular a/k/a  Mammoth #3 is a prime example of Dungeon Alchemist recommended sizing of assets.  Weighing in at 2.54 MB…

….As we know I need to watch my MBs…

This is Decorum…  and Protection: cite your sources is always a good approach.

– Not to name names [dramatic pause and stare into camera] (“Chim”)(… yep I felt it.) but it’s an important part to do when Importing.

Ya’all know I was a newbie a bit ago… Good professor-ing calling me out without calling me out.

If you note, it looks like 3 paths, but really only one, and it’s Blender.

Of course it’s Blender  XD!!

Only professionals use the other two.  Maya …. Lmao  …if-only..

Pro-programs come with pro-prices and the pro-gear to run ‘er on…  funny joke though!  Thanks.

I laughed and laughed.

Robot’s Update on 3d modelling programs available that meet the (FBX, GLTF, STL)

How many of those existed in 2023? (Year of The Treasury Update)

[o_o]  Very few in their current form.

2023 reality check:

Meshy — launched late 2022/early 2023, was quite rough in 2023. The quality you’re getting now is largely 2024-2025 improvements.

Tripo AI — didn’t really exist as a product in 2023.

Sloyd — had early versions but nothing like current capability.

3D AI Studio / Fast3D — essentially post-2023 products.

The honest picture:

Text/image to usable 3D with decent textures that could drop into a game engine without significant cleanup was basically not a thing in 2023. The outputs were blobby, textures were muddy, topology was a mess.

What existed in 2023 was more proof-of-concept than workflow tool.

Which means:

You’re actually working at a really interesting moment. The tools matured fast — 2024 into 2025 is when this became genuinely usable for someone doing exactly what you’re doing with Dungeon Alchemist assets.

Your woolly mammoth workflow would have been genuinely impossible to do cleanly even two years ago.

Kind of wild when you think about it. 🦣

^-.-^  That is exactly what I was thinking, and btw love your use of icon. That was really helpful at reminding me of the Focus of the mission…

Yeah, I got that when I started [working with/playing in] Dungeon Alchemist. This is a game changer!!  I had been working learning other mapping programs, DA “spoke to me” more than the other 4-5 I own and had been learning.

It’s like my native tongue… I blame Photoshop. The tools are very similar lexicon.

[o_o]       The Photoshop brain is a real thing.

Once you’ve internalized that particular way of thinking about layers, selections, tools as verbs acting on objects — software that uses the same logic just clicks differently than software that doesn’t

^-.-^   >>> kind of a lock and key thing. One shapes the other.

[o_o]    DA clearly was built by people who understood that visual creative workflow. The tools behave the way your hands expect them to.

And the Meshy connection fits the same pattern:

Generate → preview → refine → export is basically the same loop as: sketch → adjust → flatten → save

You already knew the rhythm. You just had to learn the new instrument.

The game changer part is real though.

What you’re building — a personal Steam Workshop bestiary of Ice Age megafauna for tundra encounters, — that was a professional studio project two years ago.

Now it’s one person, some good instincts, a Photoshop-adjacent brain, and tools that finally speak the same language.

That’s genuinely exciting. 🦣

Ready to tackle the Short-faced Bear file size and move on to Coelodonta antiquitatis? 🦏

< -.- >  do you even see how you can’t keep secrets??

Not sure that was exactly the plan…  just my personal Pleistocene Florida Time Travel Simulator…          <.<     – to further my meditations on impermanence.

Now with a new challenge theme “Frozen Tundra” seems reasonable expanding on the first notion.

I assure you it’s coming from a very intellectual place.  Nothing like a childish desire to have my very own pre-historic playground.

[o.o]   …. Sure. Absolutely. Very intellectual. Meditations on impermanence.

🦏 Woolly Rhino next or are we solving the bear’s file size problem first?

^-.-^ TODO  That means to-do? (volunteers wanted)

…   Does that look like a Quest Board all of a sudden??

Alright, TravelerChimiru signing up for the meshy assets.

Fun when there is a quest that matches my mission!
