With your hopes and 1000 ideas still in raw material and unplugged tools,

Closing that door in the Not Knowing (state of mind)

It’s a moment to reflect on.

“This moment >> I will think about later, as a meaningful moment”

Kind of a crossroad,

Where the past and future separates.

In that moment an insulated comfort in

Hoping it will be there, like a time capsule ready for the re-boot,

OR IF the route/goals/objectives change

and those supplies become more burden than boon

Liquidate.

Release into the wild,

aka Returned to the donation center they came from,

Which is what I ended up doing.

……And to the theater department at the local university,

and fully stocked several people’s personal crafts supplies.

It was never about the supplies.

The program was about the LESSONS.

The goal was to teach “cottage industry” skills. Start with small crafts (coasters) and work up to crafts that are market-able. The student would find one particular item to get good at, and with the help of the outreach would be able to set up avenues for vending, ie The Boutique on the square.

My particular item, The Newsy Cap, Reversible.

Why have a liner, and not a different cap?

Heavier materials on shell (outdoor)

Lighter material interior (indoor)

This puzzled the teacher…  The cup is overfull and never in “lack” thinking, Why not just make two hats?

I explain that I go from the garden to the kitchen.

>>> Dishwasher at the soup kitchen.

You have to keep your hair up in a commercial kitchen.

*Learning to stop explaining when people look lost about what I just said.

It only makes things worse.

Teacher seeing market approach.

Student, “It’s why I want to make a reversible cap, so I don’t have to make two.”

Seems easier than having to remember to bring two caps on dishwashing days.

They sold like hot cakes, even faster with matching cell phone pouches. Stand alone or combined these craft items did well at the boutique.

My Journeyman piece traveled, lower left cap. Craft fairs and contest Fiber Art Culture was thriving in the Appalachians. The feedback was fantastic!

When I got the cap back after IT’s travels XD… it became my signature cap for >What Came Next< >the last 8 years<

Finally so thread worn and patched it retires now.

New Cap and Bag, for the next leg of this Journey.

In Not Knowing

AND gearing up for it anyways.

😀

Right Corner: My Masterpiece Quilt (Under construction)

Prose:

Some things we carry forward,
Some things we leave behind.

The road is ever changing.

We can only carry what fits

— our priorities,
and thus our time,

Fast movement calls for lighter loads.
Industry needs stability and supplies.

When at the Crossroads, Not Knowing,
what awaits beyond the rise,

Seems best to me

to make the nimble choice,
unburdened,
and leave the past behind.
