DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE TEST?
So, Nightmare is the current Challenge theme.
Last year when this theme came up, I made Smite Hollow.
I also made a bunch of rocks, the kind that protrude sideways in the blast zone.
Big step in my model 3D making.
Nightmare.
As a teen/young adult I read/watched (consumed) a lot of horror.. I can think of nightmare-ish scenes. (Not the fun-est place for me…) Maybe if I was making it, and not walking through… Immersed in building nightmare for a week or so… Yep! Fastest build yet!
I don’t want to live in
a nightmare
longer than I have to.
The layout was already in work as a “Experiment 39,” just the ground level. Shaping rooms, removing walls to make patterns for floors. I have been watching Lilandra work with such delicacy and precision. You get to appreciate how hard it is when you try it for yourself. Ijs.
I watch Inani take that technique and run to the rooftops with it, leaving my jaw dropped in wonder… !
So I have a few tessellations I’ve been playing with in the Alchemist Laboratory…trying to figure out the trick of it… as magicians do when they see a new trick (or their young assistant aka random audience person in the flower shirt…when they see a new trick.)
Or as kids at the skate park do, when they see a new trick.
I really think it’s in us To Inspire Each Other.
Most fun with a team that cheers each other on!

In chats, my friends have been gently guiding me toward more “usable” maps.
The Bigger Business Level Picture here is a simple project, designed by Dungeon Masters for Dungeon Masters. A tool to make maps quickly for the DM …on the spot. From home printers, professional printers, (for table size maps,) and VTTs.
Stray Cats like me, don’t exactly fit the target.
I bring it up…in the live chat when the host asks a Dungeon Master specific question.
I preface (as a player) when I offer my “not DM” experience and opinions.
[Similar feeling in board meetings when I get that double and triple take and confused look, “How did she get in here?”]
A companion tool for Dungeon Masters.
I see the Dungeon Alchemist as the most satisfying and affordable 3D world building tool I’ve ever encountered.
I am very excited about the creative potential of this map making (world building) tool.
It’s been a while since I felt like I was on the “cutting edge,” and these developers and cartographers ARE.
Running with the big dogs on my little cat legs!!
Project of topic: I was tempted to use my boa bones and make a fanged skull. (still might! Yeah probably will,) I’m looking at the zig zag paths and thinking Duat 4th hour. I went to load up on the workshop assets and found the assets unwilling to download or open. This happens often, not sure if it’s a my side issue or a Steam’s side issue, so now what?
“Think like a DM”
Without all the great ancient artifacts of the DA workshop…
How do I still present the 4th hour challenge?
btw….Good to know in case you end up in the afterlife you didn’t study for…
The 4th asks:
Do you know what you are seeing, and do you know the meanings of the paths before you?
This particular “hell level” is a humility test.
Brash action takes you to obvious > tempting >>the seemingly easiest route to the Gate (portal to the next realm/next test.),
The high road.
For the answer, you really have to know the territory.
Knowing which realm is next, the 5th hour >> (fire-y realm has fire-y gate.)
Even if you manage to maneuver past all the guardians and get to the High (dark smokey gate), it returns you to the beginning where the Other dark smokey gate drops you out next to the river. So without knowing the realms and how they connect you end up taking the test over and over again without passing.
The answer is to let go of control, trust the ferry and the flow of the river. Even as the ferry submerges. There’s THE gate (fire-y)
AND OPTIONS!!
Left: An easy opening (not gate) that leads to another map/maze and back to the start gate
AND
Right: Another dark smokey gate for the people who don’t learn after repeating the same futile action over and over and over again.
Nightmare of one’s own bad decision making.
Do you know what you are seeing, and do you know the meanings of the paths before you?
You saw the gate.
You did not see the test.
I made some nice bone-y models. Leonardo.ai generated the concept art, and Meshy.ai translated it well, I think.
Well enough. So happy Leonardo is making hands with the right number of fingers (not the case this time last year.) I’m not too far from learning how to re-texture these in Blender. My friends are already learning it. Trailblazers!
